A friend shared some information about worldwide tipping policy and protocol. Thought this would be some good supporting material to “Just the Tip“
Interesting to see 20 countries where you don’t tip with some even looking at gratuity as an insult to their job.
An additional 89 countries have tipping policies of 10% or less

Now this next stat chart is fun…

I think you have to take this with a grain of salt. At first I was almost thinking “does an estimated 29% of people not tip at restaurants?” but I came to realize it’s more people just saying they wish they didn’t have to because it’s annoying / pain to do so <which I can agree with in theory>
I’m also looking at some of the professions – who’s tipping their Doctor and Dentist? I mean send them a Christmas card if anything. Then again I’m sure there’s an extreme example that may warrant a proper thank you…
- Surprised Golf Caddy was so low
- Grocery store cashier??? What is this 1950?
Last point I’ll share specific to Flight Attendants: having a bunch of friends who are in that industry I’ve been told that a nice box of chocolates or bag of tchotchkes goes a long way
